Hi Owen (them.)
It would be very difficult for me to put a scooter only weekend on as I would lose too much money, I assume you/sponsors would struggle in scootering to raise the £4k I would need to be guaranteed to make it viable for the charity. However, I would be prepared to do something on a Friday evening that could start 8pm (open to public till 9pm) then carry on a scooter only 2 hour session till 11pm. In order to this you would need to speak to distributors/sponsors and experienced riders to bring a crowd in to create an atmosphere and make it worthwhile for scooter riders to come specifically for that reason.
We are continually getting more and more participants on scooters here so I would like to see something to highlight their skills. Let me know your thoughts and what ideas you have to progress.
Regards
Mandy

Dear whom it may concern,
My name is Owen Fenton and I am an avid scooter rider who would like to see a scooter only weekend advertised in the near future. We could get brands such as JD bug ( run by J&R sports, I’ve checked), Eagle Sport, Bones bearings etc. also, we could get the French id team and skate hut team to put on a display and even some workshops like how to tail whip/ bar spin etc.
I am willing to help fully,
Many thanks
Owen Fenton.

Hi Owen (them.)
Maybe you could organise a sponsored scooter night only as a starter fundraising event late on a Friday night 21.00 – 12pm? I would do a late fri session but they would have to complete sponsor forms and bring the cash with them, there are ways of doing this. We could then gage how interested they are and if they would support scooter only events.
Not sure if you understand what it costs the organisation to host an all nighter. I need to be guaranteed i would get 200 people through the door @ £12/head entry to cover staffing/overheads etc... pro teams would not expect to pay (I assume) and drinks company may supply product but its unlikely they will supply cash. I would need some reassurance of how many participate in scootering for us to put on scooter only events, we can’t afford to do inline skating only sessions at present so I’d be surprised if scootering would be cost efficient to the charity. Can you send me any links/event information where other places are doing this so I can gage how successful and what marketing would be involved.
Thanks
Mandy

Hi Mandy, (ME.)
I can see where you are coming from there but maybe in the Christmas holidays have a Christmas all nighter for scooters only? We could also get energy drink companies to sponsor it ? I reckon the skatehut team would be happy to participate, Dogg scooters have also announced a UK flow team so we can try and sort something out?
A lot of scooter riders ould definitely come/ help out in raising enough money for your charity!
Many thanks, Owen.

Hi Owen (THEM.) uh oh.. some trouble :O :)
I am very concerned about the way you are going about this. First of all i am concerned you are building up people’s hopes to put an event as an all nighter, this is extremely unlikely having been on the forum and looked at the interest, from what i see there is only a few dozen people interested at present and to put an event on you have to assume not everyone will be able to make it. Also when you start to put out petitions – this can be dangerous ground, i would much rather see an Expression of Interest. Petition gives the impression you are fighting for something that has not been allowed to happen which is not the case. Could you please remove the alley logo from your petition site and our name as a SPONSOR, we have not agreed this, although I have agreed to support you once you have identified the need.
I don’t want you to drum up support in the wrong way and then end up not being able to deliver a scooter only night (definitely not an all nighter to start with as I said in my previous email), maybe a late night on a Friday so we can see what interest there is.
I will keep an eye on the forum to gage the interest and will wait for you to send me some statistics on numbers and value you can get from sponsors. I hope this hasn’t put you off, just some words of advice having experienced providing these sports with a great facility.
Keep going but think more about how you can engage your community of scooter riders and please run it by me if you are going to use our name on advertising via websites etc..
Thanks and look forward to hearing from you soon
Regards
Mandy.

Hi Owen (THEM.)
Don’t worry, as a charity we have to protect the organisations image therefore being associated as a sponsor has to be agreed formally by the board of directors of which I am one. Keep drumming up support, maybe it would be a good idea if you are going public with it to run your ideas past us so we can work together. We could put a scooter link up on our forum so you can direct people to that and we can consult with people as they comment? This would be a great way of working together

Damn. I do apologise. Firstly, I was very overexcited about the forum post so I will rectify ASAP. But the petition wasn’t made with you as a sponsor it was meant to be the target as in this is where it was held. I will change, and logo as well.
once again, my sincerest apologies, Owen.
